![]() ![]() Two years on, she’s firmly established as a fiercely independent, multi-hyphenate talent, with co-signs from cultural arbiters as diverse as Tyler, The Creator and artistic establishments such as Tate Modern. More than simply a home, it’s a source of encouragement and inspiration for the 22-year-old singer/musician, a fact she first acknowledged on 2018’s loose-limbed debut single ‘Widdit’, with its soulful, “City was a mother to me,” refrain. ![]() I want people to make memories with my songs.”īorn, raised and still based in Ladbroke Grove, Lava La Rue lives and breathes West London. It’s insane to think I can make the music I want to make and pay my bills and be validated for my labor, but I think mainly I want my music to be important to people. “Sometimes I just feel like I want to be different and rebellious and a contrarian to what’s going on. Remi Wolf would rather rewrite the rules than play by them, and for that you can credit her rebel heart. The singer-songwriter’s improvisational sonic instincts best speak to her talent and bolster her longevity, but it’s her childlike charisma - on-stage and off - coupled with devil-may-care attitude that indicates her potential for profound impact. Not only does her first full-length project articulate Wolf’s maturation, but manages to maintain the genrebending spontaneity and soul of her previous work. “I’ve had to let go a little bit of control and let people help me to execute my ideas,” she explains, “I have to trust other people to help me while not confining myself to any expectation other than pushing myself and the boundaries of what I’ve done before.” For a DIY-minded artist who has bootstrapped her way into the industry, this has taken some adjustment. The project is also the first time Remi Wolf has had the resources to outsource the more technical elements of the production process, as well as access to high quality equipment. The project is an exploration of the instability Wolf felt during lockdown, bouncing between houses all while attempting sobriety. These achievements have served as both prelude and platform for her debut album, Juno, her post-pandemic offering. Apple would later recruit Wolf to soundtrack an iPhone commercial, and she’d receive major co-signs from the likes of Dominic Fike and Cautious Clay. It secured her a spot opening on tour for indie-pop darling, Still Woozy, a manager, and an entry point to consecutive critically-acclaimed EPs, You’re a Dog and I’m Allergic to Dogs - mostly created in makeshift studios with Soloman and limited gear. “Guy” would mark a watershed moment for Remi Wolf, the artist. ![]() It made me nervous, but I always just had a vision.” “I was learning to play drums and would write on the guitar with all these chord shapes people just weren’t using, different structures. “I had no plan at all, I was just playing shows and taking whatever opportunities came my way,” says 25- year-old Wolf. Together, they compiled influences in the likes of Tool, Weezer, Ween and Erikah Badyu and committed an experimental artist project, throwing caution - and strategy - to the wind with the impulsive release of their first track, “Guy.” Her college experience consisted of skipping class to jam with her 10 musical roommates, and soon she’d linked with co-producer, Jared Soloman. It’s a very powerful thing - the most expressive I feel like I will ever get.”Īudiences “immediate response” to her talent instilled in Wolf an sense of confidence that carried her through music school and into a post-grad stint gracing local Los Angeles venues. “That’s always been my home base, it lights something up in my soul that is never lit up at any other time in my life. “Before I really fell in love with writing, I loved performing,” she says. Perhaps the most pivotal moment was making $200 in two hours of soulful busking in high school, when Wolf realized people would happily pay to hear her perform. There were the grade-school performances and open mics that wowed crowds in her Palo Alto hometown the self-taught songwriting, experimental recording and tertiary music education via USC. It’s possible Wolf favors rebellion now because her early musical trajectory hits all the conventional mileposts of a well-rounded artist. It’s a far cry from that which has become par-for-the-course in pop music, but that Remi Wolf has never been one to follow the rules. Her vocals oscillate between screeching falsetto and melody-anchoring alto, pendulum-swinging the scales in little more than a breath. Within the span of three-minutes, a Remi Wolf track will ricochet between funk, soul, indie and emo with all the predictability of a pinball. It’s difficult for Remi Wolf to describe her sound. ![]() When it comes to cleaning, most pieces are dishwasher-safe. It might be better for a smooth tomatillo dip rather than a chunky salsa. It has lots of power for crushing and pureeing, but the Nutribullet Pro 900 only has one speed setting and no real pulse mode, which means it's not great at chopping. The motor is not meant to run for more than 60 seconds at once, but that was more than enough time to complete each of our tests. The blender couldn't be easier to use you lock a cup into the base, push, and twist. You also get two cup rings, two handled lip rings, two flip-top to-go lids, and a recipe book. It is also dishwasher friendly, so cleaning is very easily done. The biggest appeal for most people isn’t just the cool bullet-like design, but all the interchangeable parts and possibilities: the NutriBullet comes with 12 different parts, including but not limited to 2 short cups and 1 tall cup, 1 flat and 1 emulsifying blade, 2 re-sealable lids, and a manual with recipes, and a pocket nutritionist.Īt 600 watts, the NutriBullet boasts of it’s “superfood nutrition extractor” abilities. Reviews of the Best Blenders for Smoothies Oster Pro 1200 Blender Plus ReviewĪs another Amazon Bestseller, the Magic Bullet Blender was masterfully engineered to have a little bit of everything, for everyone. It is very possible to be completely satisfied with a smoothie maker without having to pay for the most expensive one hence I recommend looking for the best valued blenders. To tie all of this together, look at what blender can incorporate all the things you need, for the best price. Just one of the things you'll greatly appreciate every time you clean it. The simpler a blender is to clean the better. You can have the most durable, the most powerful and best smoothie blender out there, but if it sucks to clean and causes you trouble every morning, you may be regretting your decision to buy it. This is especially true if you're making protein shakes (protein powder likes to stick). ![]() You might not be thinking of it now, but once you get in the routine of making smoothies everyday, the clean-ability of your blender will become highly important. Not good!Īlso, smoothie making can get messy, you may want to purchase a higher quality-built one that can withstand a drop or two on the ground. I once spent $30 on a blender that stopped working after only a month and a half of use. If you are going to be making smoothies everyday (and I hope you do) it is highly recommended that you spend the extra dollar initially to afford a good quality smoothie blender. 700 watts or more (for full-size blenders) is recommended for really good quality, awesome textured smoothies. ![]() Also, higher wattage means less time you have to spend making a smoothie, it blends significantly faster, and it can withstand more uses without burning out. Powerful smoothie makers unlock nutrients in your food. As well, the less work your stomach has to work to digest, the less it feels full, and the more you can drink! The finer the fruit in a smoothie is chopped, the better the less your body has to work to digest, and the more readily it can absorb the nutrients you are giving it. Luckily, there are also smoothie blender appliances that have interchangeable sizes to suit different needs if they change from day to day. I once bought a personal sized smoothie maker that worked out very well for me the top turned into a cup with a lid that I could take to work with me, it was really simple: blend, twist off, and go! If you are going to be making smoothies for more than just yourself, or for hefty, meal replacement type smoothies, I highly recommend looking beyond personal blenders for a blender with a larger container (40-64 ounces). Size matters, but this is a personal matter. Four scenarios were considered in each model: high vaccination with moderate NPI use, high vaccination with low NPI use, low vaccination with moderate NPI use, and low vaccination with low NPI use ( 4) ( Table) Vaccination scenarios took into account vaccine effectiveness (VE), weekly state-specific data on COVID-19 vaccination rates, and age- and risk-specific vaccine prioritization (e.g., older adults and health care workers) VE estimates were based on protection against clinical disease in randomized clinical trials § parameters for effectiveness against infection and transmission were determined by each modeling team ( 4). Teams each developed a model to project weekly reported cases, hospitalizations, and deaths, both nationally and by jurisdiction (50 states and the District of Columbia), for each scenario, using data from the Johns Hopkins Center for Systems Science and Engineering Coronavirus Resource Center and federal databases ( 2, 5). High vaccination rates and compliance with public health prevention measures are essential to control the COVID-19 pandemic and to prevent surges in hospitalizations and deaths in the coming months.įollowing previous short-term disease forecasting efforts, the COVID-19 Scenario Modeling Hub ( 4) convened six modeling teams in an open call to provide long-term, 6-month (April–September 2021) COVID-19 projections in the United States using data available through Ma( 2, 5). A sharp decline in cases was projected by July 2021, with a faster decline in the high-vaccination scenarios. Among the four scenarios, an accelerated decline in NPI adherence (which encapsulates NPI mandates and population behavior) was shown to undermine vaccination-related gains over the subsequent 2–3 months and, in combination with increased transmissibility of new variants, could lead to surges in cases, hospitalizations, and deaths. To provide long-term projections of potential trends in COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and deaths, COVID-19 Scenario Modeling Hub teams used a multiple-model approach comprising six models to assess the potential course of COVID-19 in the United States across four scenarios with different vaccination coverage rates and effectiveness estimates and strength and implementation of nonpharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) (public health policies, such as physical distancing and masking) over a 6-month period (April–September 2021) using data available through Ma( 4). ![]() This increase coincided with the spread of more transmissible variants of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, including B.1.1.7 ( 1, 3) and relaxation of COVID-19 prevention strategies such as those for businesses, large-scale gatherings, and educational activities. Many big pharmacies (think like CVS and Walgreens) are not currently filling prescriptions from Tele-health providers like Done. Insurance/Pharmacy - Here's the trickiest part of working with Done. She wrote the script and said to let her know if I needed a dose increase of if I didn't like the Vyvanse. After we talked she recommended I start with 20mg Vyvanse, as she doesn't like to prescribe Adderall IR (claims a lot of people have side effects/it doesn't last very long). Treatment - The provider was very knowledgeable about treatment options. After discussion, she diagnosed me with ADHD and we discussed treatment options. She asked me a bunch of questions and we discussed my symptoms. The Appointment - I showed up on time for my video (Zoom) visit, the provider was also on time. Prior to the visit I filled out multiple forms, including questions about depression, anxiety and ADHD symptoms. The visit was booked for a Saturday about 7 days after I requested it. Scheduling - I scheduled online for a 30 minute intake visit. ![]() Finally I decided to get help after seeing an ad for Done and reading some other reddit reviews for it. I am a 30F who had been struggling with undiagnosed ADHD for a very long time. Today (April 11th) I received my medication! Overall it was pretty easy, I just had to be patient.Overall, I feel positively about my experience with Done. I got no notice on the 8th so I submitted a request and on the 10th I got a response from my PMHNP and she said she will send it in today. That was on April 5th and she said it would take a 1-3 days to send over. I submitted a pharmacy change request but it did say they will reply to my request within 3 business days so I called DoneFirst and the lady on the phone sent in a change request for me. My DoneFirst PMHNP is actually only an hour away from me but I just decided to switch to my local grocery store pharmacy. I did have issues with my local CVS though because one of them said they were not currently accepting any new Adderall prescriptions and to call another one, and the second one I called said they only accept local prescriptions. They sent a prescription to my preferred pharmacy immediately. Within 15 minutes, she had written me a script for Adderall XR and my appointment was over. I did get lectured of course but I wanted to tell the truth to avoid being put on too weak a dosage. I told the truth on how I’ve taken my family member’s Adderall on several occasions and the dosage I took and my experience with it because the starter 10mg does not work well on me. In my pre-appointment form, it asked if I had taken medication before and I was conflicted on whether or not I should say that I have taken Adderall before even though it was not prescribed to me. The lady I talked to was not friendly and very monotone and asked me basic questions such as what symptoms I had, what I wanted medication for, and also any past experience with medication. I will preface this with saying I am officially diagnosed by my therapist with inattentive ADHD so it did not really matter to me about “figuring out” if I had ADHD or not so I did not care about “being heard” if that makes sense. The PMHNP joined about 12 minutes late but I didn’t really care. My appointment comes and I joined the Zoom link about 5 minutes before my scheduled appointment time. ![]() A couple hours later I got a text from them asking for my preferred pharmacy & address of it. After filling out my forms and sending them my insurance cards I was set. I was able to get an appointment within less than 2 days. I came across DoneFirst and read some recent positive experiences on here so I went ahead and signed up. I was looking for a place to get medication since my insurance sucks and most psychiatrists/any mental health don’t want to work with my insurance. I’ve seen a lot of negative reviews and some positive about DoneFirst. ![]() Here is my experience with DoneFirst! Hope it can help someone out. |
